Ideas for the theme

Realism and abstraction are simply terms that designate one aspect of two different kinds of art. They exist as categories to help understand something about these kinds of art. As with anything complex that we may encounter in the world, we create categories to help us understand and to make sense of things. We often find, however, that categories are not as rigid as we may think at first. The more information we gather, we may begin to refine our understanding of categories, and we also find that observed similarities may blur the edges of those categories. We make a shift in perception. One shift could be that realism and abstraction are not so different. All forms are accepted, from realism, to abstraction to abstract realism. Show us your work!

* Known as the first Modern movement, Realism modified what was then viewed as "established art'. Realism in art tended towards traditionalism - aiming to accurately depict the world around us using fundamental elements of art such as line, tone, color, and shape. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/... (art_movement)

* Abstract painting, without concern for an accurate depiction of visual reality, reimagined art in the 20th century when artists reshaped what they saw and transformed the material world into non-representational, conceptual compositions. By contrast, Abstract art uses color, shape, and composition to convey emotions and ideas, moving away from detailed or realistic representations to simplify and symbolize, letting go of detailed references.
